What is BWRT   ?

BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® and is a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI.

BWRT has been the subject of a Ph.D. awarded from Lincoln University, UK, and professors at the University of Bergen, Norway, were so impressed with it that in 2021 they funded and organised a clinical trial: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34696777 This was delayed because of Covid issues but was restarted in 2023.

What does BWRT   do?

BWRT®, changes ingrained negative thinking by intercepting the trigger thought at source and creating a new neural pathway so an emotion or event can no longer trigger destructive behaviour patterns or thoughts that leave us crippled by our fears.

How does BWRT   work?

With BWRT, we don’t trawl through your whole life. For example, if you know a particular situation makes you anxious, all you need to reveal is what causes your anxiety and how you would prefer to feel instead. With this limited information, BWRT® can work wonders!!

BWRT® works with the part of the brain that learns how to do things on an ‘automatic’ pilot. It is often referred to as the subconscious, it’s the part of the brain that springs into action when you accidentally knock something off a shelf, and your hand flies out to catch it without the tiniest pause for thought.

How it all began

Our early brain, known as the reptilian complex, aka Lizard brain, has been the first responder to all new data in sentient animals for approximately 650 million years.

It is far speedier than even the fastest conscious thought in response to any stimulus but especially to threats against survival, be they real or imagined. So this early brain, when faced with a potentially stressful situation, will ‘pattern match’ looking for a response previously employed in a similar circumstance. So an action, be it a physical response or a thought, is already underway before conscious awareness.

It explains why willpower alone is sometimes not enough to change old behaviours or thought patterns and why we get stuck in these ways of behaving and thinking however much we desire change.

BWRT® gets in at the earliest point in the neural pathway (the cognitive gap) to re-route the data to the preferred response. The changes are made at the earliest point in the information stream, making them feel so natural to the client they might believe nothing has happened until they again encounter the situation that triggered the problem and find the fear or stress has gone.

The future is pristine!

Everyone needs help at some point when being told to pull yourself together is not enough.

The people and the experiences in your life have led you to where you are now. They have helped form beliefs you have about yourself, the good and the bad.

No matter the problem, you do not choose to feel the way you do, but the chances are your thoughts got you there, so if you change your thoughts, you change your feelings.

BWRT enables you to do this by changing the behaviour patterns that have created difficulties in your life, allowing you to move on, free from what is holding you back!

If a thought or belief does not benefit you, let it go!

Remember, the future is pristine!
